The Holts lived in Barrowford in Lancashire at least from 1801. This is a picture of Florence Holt.

  • Joseph Holt, born in 1801 and died in 1877, both in Barrowford. We don't yet know who he married, but we think she must have died by the time of the 1841 census - she wasn't with Joseph and family on that night, and according to later censuses he had no more children after that time. Joseph and his wife had six children, including:
  • John Holt, b.1824, buried on 16 August 1869 at the Wheatley Lane Cemetery, Barrowford. John married Ann Sutcliffe. They had seven children, including:
  • Joseph Holt, b.1855, died 25 June 1925, both in Barrowford. Joseph married Nancy Wilkinson. They had seven children, including:
  • Olive, b.1889. She married Herbert Duerden in 1916. They had two children, Gordon and Keith.
  • Keith is married to Gillian Pickett. They have two children, including:
  • Louise, who is married to Colin English.

Other names associated with the Holts in Barrowford include the Wilkinsons and the Sutcliffes. James Wilkinson was born in Barrowford in 1823 as was his wife Ann Brown. The oldest Sutcliffe we have found so far is James, born in 1791 in Barrowford.

All the Wilkinsons, Browns and Sutcliffes were also cotton weavers.
