Betty Butterfield (what a wonderful name!) was Louise's Great Great Great Great Grandmother. She was born round about 1780 (according to the 1851 and '61 censuses) in Barrowford. She married James Stansfield, who was a hand loom weaver, on 22nd November 1800 at Colne parish church. They had 12 children, the last of whom must have been born when Betty was 48 in 1828. We don't have a date for either of their deaths, but the marriage lasted for over 50 years, because they were both included in the 1851 census. Betty was a widow by the time of the 1861 census.
