Introduction
This is a collection of motor racing photographs, shot mainly in the early to mid-1950s, by Keith Duerden FBIPP FRPS. The collection is a personal view of some of the events from that period. Apart from those published in the '50s in "Autocourse" - a leading motor racing magazine of that time - they have been largely unseen before appearing here.

Book Cover

The Automobile Magazine - January 2010 - "... somehow he found time ... to attend most of the important British events from 1952 to 1956 - the years of Fangio, Gonzalez, Hawthorn, Brooks and Moss. He was thus able to to record in beautifully lit, perfectly composed black and white images not only the action but also the impromptu moments of pre-race nerves, frenzied pitside activity and earnest team manager-to-driver conversation that bring those years so vividly to life."
"If you knew British motor racing back then ... then every page of this marvelous book will bring a smile to your face and joy to your heart. If you didn't, you might just begin to understand what you missed."www.the-automobile.co.uk

Classic & Sports Car Magazine - February 2010 - "Primarily looking at an eight-year window, from the first Goodwood meeting to the 1956 International Trophy Meeting at Silverstone, it's a vivid record of the British racing scene." www.classicandsportscar.com

Octane Magazine - March 'Book of the Month' - "...the more we delved, the more we loved it. And that's due in no small part to Duerden's sheer enthusiasm for what he was photographing. Focusing largely on the 1950s and, in particular, his beloved Goodwood and the British Grands Prix of the era, what really astounds us is the fact he didn't even have a press pass. He certainly knew how to frame an image and we love the shots." www.classicandperformancecar.com

Motor Sport - "...as a professional photographer in other fields, racing was a passion, not a job, until retirement brought time to publish this well-presented work... an enjoyable trip back."www.motorsportmagazine.co.uk
